ECM – Workflow and Document management system implementations
From 2003 we were participating in workflow and document management system implementations based on the product portfolio of the largest German manufacturer of ECM software and direct vendor of end-to-end solutions in the area of information logistics.
During these years we were implementing business process and electronic document management projects for clients in public and private sector in Austria and Romania.
In many cases we were participating in entire project life cycle as subcontracted technical professionals, starting by offering technical support in sales and pre-sales activities, delivering professional services in analysis phase as well as leading the implementation, and roll out of the systems.
A very important outcome of these experiences was the gained Enterprise Content Management and SER product portfolio knowledge as well as the good professional relations developed with clients.
Integrations, Custom solution implementations
None of our project was standard product implementation project. In all cases specific domain requirements were requested to be implemented on top of standard ECM functionalities or external system integration was needed in order to fulfill the project scope.
Reference projects can be considered in this respect the Leasing workflow project for a French-Romanian Bank as well as the GIS integration for a Romanian public sector client.
Implemented as web service business facade, in both cases workflow system were acting as orchestration service for automated arrangement, coordination, and management of complex leasing respectively cadastral business process, other ECM subsystems like DMS or Archiving were providing content repository functionalities.

What is Workflow?
A workflow management system is a computer system that manages and defines a series of tasks within an organization to produce a final outcome or outcomes. Workflow management systems allow the user to define different workflows for different types of jobs or processes. For example, in a manufacturing setting, a design document might be automatically routed from designer to a technical director to the production engineer. At each stage in the workflow, one individual or group is responsible for a specific task. Once the task is complete, the workflow software ensures that the individuals responsible for the next task are notified and receive the data they need to execute their stage of the process. Workflow management systems also automate redundant tasks and ensure that uncompleted tasks are followed up.
What is Document management?
A document management system (DMS) is a computer system (or set of computer programs) used to track and store electronic documents and/or images of paper documents. It is usually also capable of keeping track of the different versions modified by different users (history tracking). The term has some overlap with the concepts of content management systems. It is often viewed as a component of enterprise content management (ECM) systems and related to digital asset management, document imaging, workflow systems and records management systems.
What is Enterprise Content Management?
Enterprise Content Management (ECM) is the strategies, methods and tools used to capture, manage, store, preserve, and deliver content and documents related to organizational processes. ECM covers the management of information within the entire scope of an enterprise whether that information is in the form of a paper document, an electronic file, a database print stream, or even an email.
